Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has promised to sign a new congressional voting map designed to help Republicans maintain their slim majority in Congress.

The move could give Republicans 30 of Texas' 38 congressional districts. It quickly drew a legal challenge. President Donald Trump’s political team pressured Texas lawmakers to redraw the districts this year.

The mid-decade map redraw adds five Republican-leaning districts and sets up a legal showdown over minority representation.
