The Ottawa Senators are off to a solid start to their 2025-26 season as they look to build upon the momentum they generated last season and make the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second year in a row.
If asked to describe the personality of Ottawa Senators goalie Linus Ullmark, most folks would come up with words like calm, chill, or maybe even quirky. But a fighter? A brawling goalie cut from the same cloth as the late Ray Emery? Not likely.
Drake Batherson and Tim Stutzle each had two goals and an assist to lead the Ottawa Senators over the Boston Bruins 7-2 on Monday night for their third straight win.
The Senators did that from the drop of puck to the final buzzer in limiting the Capitals to 13 shots on goal, including six through the first two periods. One example of that was their 23 blocked shots, a physical commitment that did not lessen after the score became lopsided in the third period.
Cousins, who recently pivoted to the top line as Ottawa navigates an injury to captain Brady Tkachuk (thumb), appreciates the intricacies of skating with Batherson and Stutzle. The duo had two goals and an assist apiece versus Boston.
Thanks to a goal from Morgan Geekie on their first shot of the night, the Bruins started Monday's showdown with the Senators as well as they could have. They also ended it as poorly as they could have, though, as the Bruins surrendered seven straight goals on the way to an ugly, 7-2 blowout loss in Ottawa.
Stutzle pushed it to 4-1 13 seconds into the third period, putting a wrist shot past Swayman’s glove from the top of the left face-off circle on a power play. He scored his second power-play goal of the period when he tipped in a Sanderson point shot for a 5-1 advantage at 9:33.
