The transfer portal has now officially been open for over a week, and while the Texas Longhorns had a slow start in adding pieces to their 2026 roster, head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns have been on a tear recently, gaining top commitments out of the transfer portal.
Then, Steve Sarkisian’s football team scored two major transfer portal victories, earning former Auburn wideout Cam Coleman’s commitment after he had visited Tuscaloosa. Running back Hollywood Smothers, who had committed to Alabama from NC State earlier in the portal cycle, then flipped to Texas.
Texas is reportedly set to lose a running back to the transfer portal after picking up two key RBs from other programs.
