Sixteen homeless people have been told they will have to leave a Toms River motel Jan. 5 as funding to pay for rooms has run out.

Sixteen homeless people who have been living in a Toms River motel for more than a year have received another reprieve.

Several residents staying at the Mansfield Inn have been temporarily placed in another local motel, according to local officials.

More than a dozen Mansfield Inn rooms still appeared occupied Thursday during a visit by members of a local homeless response team.
