WELLINGTON, New Zealand — Comedian John Oliver succeeded in his campaign to have what he describes as a weird, puking bird with a colorful mullet win New Zealand's Bird of the Century contest.
Kārearea, the Indigenous Māori name for the New Zealand falcon, was crowned Bird of the Year in a fiercely fought annual event.
