Starting January 1, 2024, climbers on Mt. Hood will be required to purchase a climbing permit if they will be climbing above 9,500 feet elevation.

The elevation is just as difficult to pinpoint. A Google search finds a range from 11,239 feet (Mount Hood Information Center) to 11,249 feet (Visit Oregon).
Despite the rising temperatures as summer approaches, snow can still be found on many popular Mt. Hood trails, as low as 4,000-foot elevation, with some remaining snowy until mid-July.
