A 43-year-old Mercer County man was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer on the southbound New Jersey Turnpike early Sunday after exiting his vehicle following an earlier crash, officials said.

The incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. along the outer roadway of the southbound Turnpike near milepost 86 in Edison Township, Middlesex County, according to New Jersey State Police.
