While Hurricane Erin stayed offshore, her impact was still felt up and down the coast. In Atlantic City, noticeable beach erosion carved deep slopes into what was once a flat shoreline. A high surf advisory and dangerous rip currents remain in effect along the Jersey Shore heading into the weekend.

BEACH HAVEN – While it didn’t make landfall, Hurricane Erin still left much of the Jersey Shore’s coastal communities underwater. In Long Beach Township, nearly a mile of Long Beach Boulevard was left impenetrable due to flooding. Video showed daredevils exploring the streets in kayaks.

The Jersey Shore dramatically shrank is some areas overnight as the storm surge pounded the coast, leaving officials scrambling to assess what's left of their beaches.
