(Reuters) -European shares edged lower on Friday, as investors weighed uncertainty over U.S. trade deals, with the July 9 deadline fast approaching. The pan-European STOXX 600 index fell 0.4% to 541.61 points, as of 0704 GMT, and was on track to log a weekly decline. Other major regional indexes also traded lower.

The president said of the plans: "Different amounts of money, different amounts of tariffs and somewhat different statements."

US President Donald Trump said his administration will probably start notifying trading partners Friday of the new US tariff on their exports effective Aug. 1, while reiterating a preference for simplicity over complicated negotiations five days before his deadline for deals.

The president didn’t specify which countries would be affected but acknowledged the complications of negotiating with over 170 countries
