Tropical Storm Fernand has formed in the Atlantic Ocean southeast of Bermuda, forecasters said Saturday. Fernand is the sixth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, and it comes on the heels of Hurricane Erin, which formed in a similar area on Aug. 15.

Fernand will slowly weaken the next few days. Thankfully, Fernand will avoid any interaction with land, staying south of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. By later tonight we expect it will become post-tropical as it loses it’s tropical characteristics.

No coastal watches or warnings were in effect for either storm, the Miami-based U.S. National Hurricane Center said.
