Authorities say at least 10 people have died and others were injured in a fire at a nursing home near the northeastern Spanish city of Zaragoza.

At least 10 people died in a blaze at a nursing home in Zaragoza, Spain, before firefighters managed to extinguish it, local authorities reported on Friday.

Fire ripped through a retirement home in the town of Villafranca del Ebro in northern Spain early on Friday, killing at least 10 people, the regional government of Aragon said.

Emergency services said the blaze had broken out in the early hours of the morning. The cause was still being investigated.
