A registered sex offender is accused of kidnapping a teenager and violently sexually assaulting her in an orchard in Central California, authorities said Friday.

Officials said 36-year-old Edgar Perez Medina, of Livingston, is suspected of creating a fake social media profile, identifying himself as an 18-year-old man.

Monroe Police arrested sex offender Stephen Miller after finding him with a missing 14-year-old. He faces multiple charges, including felonious restraint.

Officers said a registered sex offender was found with a girl who went missing on Halloween. On Oct. 31, a 14-year-old girl was reported missing in Monroe, North Carolina. The Monroe Police Department found her on Nov. 14 with registered sex offender, Stephen John Miller, 45, of Monroe.
