The mayor’s remarks came a day after Trump’s Department of Justice sued the city, saying its sanctuary law has hindered the federal government’s ability to combat "a crisis of illegal immigration."

Amid continuing federal immigration detentions across the region, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass on Tuesday, July 1, pushed back on the Trump Administration, calling its legal action a day earlier challenging the constitutionality of “sanctuary city” policies the beginnings of a federal “all-out assault against” L.

The Trump administration alleges in federal court that the city's sanctuary ordinance violates the Constitution by "thwarting" immigration enforcement.

"My Representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today on Gaza," Trump said in a statement. "Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60 Day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the War." Trump added that Qatar and Egypt would present the final proposal to Hamas.

Trump announced the development as he prepares to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for talks at the White House next week.
