David Ellison Takes Warner Bros. to Court as Paramount Launches Proxy Battle Over Netflix Bid
In a letter to WBD shareholders Monday, Paramount CEO David Ellison said his company has filed suit against WBD in Delaware seeking greater financial disclosure of the Netflix deal. Additionally, Ellison said his company plans to nominate its own slate of directors for WBD’s board who they believe would vote against the deal with Netflix.
According to Variey, this morning Paramount Skydance filed a lawsuit in Delaware court asking that Warner Bros. make public financial details of its decision to accept an $83 billion deal with Netflix. This comes after the board of Warner Bros. rejected Paramount’s $30 per share offer for the entirety of Warner Bros. Discovery.
Warner Bros. Discovery clapped back at Paramount Skydance's lawsuit seeking more financial details on WBD's deal with Netflix and said Paramount's continued campaign to try to convince Warner Bros. shareholders that its $30/share offer is superior is an attempt to "distract" investors.
Warner Bros. Games has reportedly laid off a number of employees at its San Francisco studio. As reported by Game Developer, several senior staff publicly confirmed their roles were eliminated via LinkedIn, with at least one entire team affected.
