Former U.S. Army Cpl. Clarence Smoyer who served as a tank gunner during WWII, received a Bronze Star Medal almost 75 years after his heroic actions during the Battle of Cologne. The award ceremony was a surprise to Smoyer who at 96 years old, arrived at the WWII memorial to a greeting party of Soldiers, Veterans, friends and families of his tank crew.
