Understanding Mid Gut Volvulus Diagnosis via Ultrasound

This contrast-enhanced CT of the abdomen demonstrates findings of superior mesenteric vein (SMV) thrombosis with associated venous bowel ischemia in a patient presenting with abdominal pain. Imaging findings reviewed in this case include: •\tCirrhotic liver morphology with nodular surface contour •\tPartially occlusive thrombus within the extrahepatic portal vein •\tComplete thrombosis of the superior mesenteric vein •\tImpaired mesenteric venous drainage •\tMarked right colonic wall thickening
