Oakleigh is a historic house museum in Mobile, Alabama. Designed and built by architect James Roper, the home was constructed in 1835 according to H.A.B.S. and 1833 according to other sources including Oakleigh's website. Early owners of the home included banker Joseph Cowperthwaite who lived in the home for about twelve years beginning in 1840; the owner at the time of the survey was H. S. Denniston who acquired the property in 1926. As such, the property is also referred to as Denniston House
