50 years ago today, on August 2, 1971, Apollo 15 Commander Dave Scott took advantage of the absence of an atmosphere on the Moon to demonstrate a finding by Galileo hundreds of years earlier, that all objects released at the same time will fall toward a center of gravity at the same rate regardless of mass.
